Washerwoman

If you ever open the washer and find that while the cycle is done, none of the water has drained out, you might be alarmed. The fact that the washer hasn't done this before, even once, in the whole 8 months you've been using it would logically lead you to the conclusion that it's broken. You may resort to wringing out every item by hand before putting it in the dryer. If you do this, 2 things will happen: First, your hands will turn red from all the soaking in basement temperature water. And second, your clothes will not dry, even after two extra-long dryer cycles, leaving them with that been-wet-for-too-long mustiness that forces you to wash them all again anyway. On the other hand, if you had simply turned the knob to the end/rinse part of the cycle, the water would have drained out immediately. Note to self.
